When my son was diagnosed as being on the “Autism Spectrum Disorder” my thoughts ran away with me! All I could think about was how this was going to affect his life; will he be able to cope with school? Will he have friends? What about a girlfriend? And even bigger, how will he handle a job? Will he be ok? I had so many questions and none that could be answered.
"I now have the peace of mind knowing that my son has the financial security he needs in retirement"
In 2009 when I heard that the Federal Government started a program called the Registered Disability Savings Plan (RDSP), I immediately signed up. Why you ask? Simple. Free money and peace of mind. For every dollar deposited to the plan, I received up to 3 times that amount in government grants and not only that, but the funds in the plan grow tax free. For example, when I first started making contributions to my son’s plan, I was only able to afford the bare minimum of $50 a month which equaled $600 per year but received government grants in the sum of $1800 so over the past 7 years the value of our plan has grown exponentially.
For most people, when we think of Disabilities, we automatically think of physical disabilities or glaring mental conditions that are easily visible and readily identifiable, but many other conditions exist that can be harder to see, but still impair functions necessary for everyday life. Not everyone has a physical disability and that is why this program is underestimated by many, but it can be a great benefit to those who benefit, so why not check and see?

Do I Qualify?
If you are a Canadian resident, hold a SIN and qualify for the disability tax credit as defined by the CRA (link here) Then guess what? You qualify to take advantage of this free money!
I now have the peace of mind knowing that my son has the financial security he needs in retirement and I want to help others find that security too. So reach out and let me help you, your loved one or even someone you know who you think can benefit from an RDSP, there’s nothing to lose but only to gain!
Sincerely,
